The 2025 CELT Report projects the region’s annual electricity consumption will increase by about 11% over the next decade, driven primarily by the electrification of heating systems and transportation.

Peak demand is a measure of the highest amount of electricity used in a single hour, and the CELT Report includes forecasts for both summer and winter peaks. Assuming normal weather conditions, the ISO predicts winter and summer peaks will converge in the mid-2030s as the electrification of heating and transportation continues.
