ISO-NE staff share expertise at NECPUC Symposium, other May events

Collaboration, expertise, and innovation are three of ISO New England’s core values. Staff embody these values by presenting their work at electricity industry conferences and events around the region, the country, and the world. Here’s a selection of their May speaking engagements.

Two ISO-NE executives participated in the New England Conference of Public Utilities Commissioners (NECPUC) Symposium in Mystic, Connecticut, on May 19 and 20.

Anne George, vice president, chief external affairs and communications officer, spoke on a panel titled “Asset Condition and Right-Sizing Policies.” She discussed how the ISO is exploring requests from the New England states and several stakeholders to take on an advisory role in reviewing proposals from regional transmission owners to repair or replace aging equipment.

Al McBride, vice president, System Planning, joined a panel discussion titled “Offshore Wind: Where are We Headed and How Quickly?” He discussed the 2050 resource mix required to meet the New England states’ emissions goals and increased electricity demand, the ISO’s 2050 Transmission Study: Offshore Wind Analysis, and the effect of offshore wind on winter reliability.

System Planning

Jon Black, manager, Advanced Forecasting & Analytics, spoke at EPRI’s virtual Load Forecasting Interest Group meeting on May 5. He discussed using climate-adjusted weather data in the ISO’s long-term demand forecasting.

Legal

Maria Gulluni, vice president and general counsel, participated in the Boston Bar Association 2025 Energy Conference on May 22. She spoke as part of a panel titled “Navigating Uncertainty in Renewable Energy.”

Kevin Flynn, chief counsel, FERC Relations, discussed the ISO’s industry-leading efforts around gas-electric coordination at the Natural Gas Supply Association annual meeting May 22 in Lost Pines, Texas.

External Affairs

Eric Johnson, executive director, External Affairs, gave a virtual presentation to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services on May 14 about the ISO’s Economic Planning for the Clean Energy Transition study. The occasion was a technical input session on the department’s Comprehensive Climate Action Plan.
