ISO-NE elects 2023 board slate

ISO New England, the operator of the region’s bulk power system and wholesale electricity marketplace, today announced the election of its 2023 board of directors slate.  

The slate includes new member Craig Ivey, retired president of Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc., who brings three decades of experience in the electricity industry. His three-year term will begin on October 1, 2023.

Current board members Brook Colangelo and Mark Vannoy have been reelected to their third and second terms, respectively. Roberto Denis will retire from the board this fall.

“Craig brings extensive expertise in utility operations and a commitment to innovation to the ISO New England Board of Directors,” said ISO New England President and CEO Gordon van Welie. “His knowledge will support our mission of ensuring a reliable and efficient regional grid throughout the clean energy transition.”

Ivey elected

Craig Ivey served as President of Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. for nine years, retiring in 2017. While in this role, he was responsible for all aspects of the electric system that serves over nine million New Yorkers.

Ivey previously spent 25 years at Dominion Energy, rising through the ranks from a part-time position during his college years to become senior vice president of transmission and distribution.

He serves on the board for Ameren Corporation, as well as the Fresh Air Fund, a nonprofit serving children in low income communities in New York City. 

Colangelo, Vannoy reelected

Brook Colangelo, elected to his third and final term, is Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Waters Corporation. Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Information Officer of the White House under President Barack Obama. Colangelo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the George Washington University.

Mark Vannoy joined the ISO board in 2020 and was re-elected to a second term. He is currently President of Maine Water, and previously served as the chairperson of the Maine Public Utilities Commission. He is a retired United States Navy officer, a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and holds a Master’s degree from Cornell University.

About the Board

The ISO elects its board members through a nominating process that involves representatives from the ISO New England Board of Directors, the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL), and the New England Conference of Public Utilities Commissioners. Candidates also receive the endorsement of the NEPOOL Participants Committee.

ISO New England board members are subject to the company’s code of conduct, which includes a non-affiliation provision designed to maintain the independence of the company from participants in New England’s wholesale markets and their affiliates.
