Webinar will outline longer-term transmission planning process, procurement

A public webinar next month will provide an overview of ISO New England’s longer-term transmission planning (LTTP) process and the first LTTP procurement.

In 2025, at the direction of the New England States Committee on Electricity (NESCOE), the ISO issued a request for proposals aimed at addressing longer-term transmission needs identified in the 2050 Transmission Study. In August, after several months of evaluation and stakeholder discussions, the ISO selected a preferred solution to upgrade the transmission system between northern Maine, where land-based wind generation is expected to increase, and more populous regions of southern New England, where demand for electricity is highest. The ISO will be providing updates on next steps in the process, as appropriate, through the Planning Advisory Committee.

The webinar takes place Oct. 1 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. Registration is not required. Login details are available via the ISO New England events calendar.

The webinar will be based on publicly available information and is intended for a general audience. It will build on information shared in an earlier webinar on the 2050 Transmission Study, the ISO’s first longer-term transmission study. There will be time for questions, and a recording will be posted following the event.
