Changes coming to power system modeling data requirements; webinar registration open
Registration is open for a webinar on changes to the NX Application resulting from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Order No. 881.
The webinar will be on Tuesday, June 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All market participant NX-9 administrators should attend.
The NX Application hosts data representing the physical characteristics, ratings, and operational information for transmission and generation equipment. This data is used to develop accurate system models and support the reliable operation of the New England power system.
NX-9 data includes detailed equipment modeling information such as connection terminals, impedance values, voltage schedules, transformer tap settings/ranges, and other related operating parameters used within those system models.
FERC issued Order Nos. 881 and 881-A, Managing Transmission Line Ratings, to improve the accuracy and transparency of transmission line ratings, to ensure just and reasonable wholesale rates, and to better align the transmission grid with actual operating conditions. The FERC orders apply to all equipment owners, not just transmission owners.
The webinar will cover changes to NX-9 form fields including the removal of traditional seasonal ratings, and the addition of Limit Exchange Portal (LEP) information. Instructions and the timeline for migrating all existing NX-9 data to the post-881 format will also be provided.
ISO New England offers a variety of training materials to help participants understand the region’s wholesale electricity market and power system. Is there something specific you’d like to see? Take a short survey to provide your feedback.
