ISO Minute: Keeping pace with an evolving power grid
ISO Minute is a video series featuring ISO New England employees speaking about their experiences working for the region’s independent system operator and supporting the safe and reliable transition to clean energy.
Keeping the power grid reliable takes careful preparation for the changes coming to the region’s electric system.
In this ISO Minute, Josh Lenzen, manager of System Operations Readiness, shares how his team helps prepare ISO New England’s system operators and other employees for upcoming projects and operational changes. That work can involve coordinating across teams, helping develop procedures, and guiding projects through stakeholder discussions and committees before they are put into operation. The goal is to ensure ISO-NE staff have the tools and processes they need to do their jobs effectively.
“Working on these projects from the beginning and then watching them get deployed and actually do what they’re supposed to do is very rewarding,” Lenzen said.
