Final 2025 Consumer Liaison Group meeting features conversations with FERC commissioner, ISO-NE leadership

The final 2025 meeting of the Consumer Liaison Group (CLG) featured conversations with David Rosner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), as well as ISO New England Board of Directors member Catherine Flax and President and CEO Gordon van Welie.

A video recording and summary of the Dec. 3 event, held in Boston, are available online.

The meeting began with opening remarks from Nathan Phillips, a member of the CLG Coordinating Committee. John Walkey, director of climate justice and waterfront initiatives for GreenRoots, provided a community welcome.

Rosner has been a FERC commissioner since 2024 and served as its chair from August to October of 2025. Don Kreis, New Hampshire consumer advocate and CLG Coordinating Committee co-chair, posed questions for Rosner during a “fireside chat.” Rosner also spoke informally with meeting attendees.

Flax and van Welie provided opening remarks and then engaged the audience with a question-and-answer session. Retiring at the end of 2025, van Welie discussed his experiences overseeing the regional power grid over the last quarter-century.

Anne George, ISO-NE’s vice president of external affairs and communications, and Eric Johnson, executive director of the External Affairs department, provided the ISO’s regional update, which focused on ISO news and upcoming events, ISO markets, recent grid conditions, the ISO’s 2026 budget, key projects, and public engagement.

Regine Spector, a University of Massachusetts professor and CLG Coordinating Committee co-chair, offered closing remarks and thanked everyone who helped to organize the meeting.

The next CLG meeting is planned for March 25 in Vermont, with a location and agenda to be announced. For the latest information on the meetings and to view past presentations, visit the Consumer Liaison Group webpage.
