ISO Minute: Translating the technical

ISO Minute is a video series featuring ISO New England employees speaking about their experiences working for the region’s independent system operator and supporting the safe and reliable transition to clean energy.

When it comes to translating acronyms and jargon-heavy analysis about the power grid, storytelling can be a powerful tool.

It can be easy to get lost in the megawatts, but Annie Kleeman, senior communications specialist, brings those numbers to life.

In this ISO Minute, Kleeman explains that with an undergraduate degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in creative writing, she approaches spreadsheets and data sets with storytelling in mind.

Kleeman’s work can be seen in reports including Economic Planning for the Clean Energy Transition, the 2050 Transmission Study, the 2023 Regional System Plan, and the Future Grid Reliability Study
