Keynote conversations and fireside chats: ISO-NE staff share expertise at June events
Collaboration, expertise, and innovation are three of ISO New England’s core values. Staff embody these values by presenting their work at electricity industry conferences and events around the region, the country, and the world. Here’s a selection of their June speaking engagements.

ISO-NE Board of Directors Chair Cheryl LaFleur joined Commissioner Judy Chang of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a “keynote conversation” at the New England Restructuring Roundtable in Boston on June 13. They discussed wholesale markets, power system reliability, and transmission.
Gordon van Welie, president and CEO, and Stephen George, vice president, System Operations and Market Administration, spoke at a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission technical conference on resource adequacy on June 4 and 5 in Washington.

Al McBride, vice president, System Planning, took part in a “fireside chat” at the New England Energy Conference and Exhibition on June 5 in North Falmouth, Massachusetts. The topic was the potential for regional electricity demand growth from data centers.
McBride provided welcoming remarks and George moderated a panel discussion at GETs Day, a forum on grid-enhancing technologies organized by the ISO’s Planning Advisory Committee. Joining them from the ISO was Brent Oberlin, executive director, Transmission Planning, who gave an overview presentation on GETs. The event was held June 18 in Westborough, Massachusetts.
Eric Johnson, executive director, External Affairs, spoke June 12 in Boston at a Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships summit on electricity demand growth and energy efficiency.
Marianne Perben, director, Planning Services, gave a presentation titled “Resource Contributions for Reliability and Capacity Supply” at a North American Electric Reliability Corporation workshop in Washington on June 5.
Kerry Schlichting, supervisor, State Policy, External Affairs, and Richard Kornitsky, engineer, and Elinor Ross, assistant engineer, Economic Studies and Environmental Outlook, gave a virtual presentation about modeling the future grid to the Massachusetts chapter of Elders Climate Action on June 23.
