Consumer Liaison Group meeting explores grid governance

The second Consumer Liaison Group (CLG) meeting of 2025 explored ISO New England governance structures and decision-making processes, as well as energy affordability and public engagement.

The meeting began with a community welcome from Zaida Govan, a member of the Springfield City Council.

Anne George, vice president and chief external affairs and communications officer at ISO New England, provided an overview of ISO New England, discussing its origins and key features of its structure and governance. She also gave an update on wholesale electricity markets, operations, and system planning.

Presentations followed from Charles Hua, founder and executive director of PowerLines; Joshua Macey, associate professor at Yale Law School; and Bryndís Woods, principal analyst at Applied Economics Clinic. Afterward, George joined the panelists for a question-and-answer session.
