ISO Minute is a video series featuring ISO New England employees speaking about their experiences working for the region’s independent system operator and supporting the safe and reliable transition to clean energy.

Electricity is an essential component of modern life, driving nearly every activity from the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep.  

June 12 is National Control Room Workers Day, a day established in 2024 to recognize the critical work of control room operators across various industries.  

At ISO New England, our highly trained system operators work around the clock to ensure the reliable flow of electricity to more than 15 million people across all six New England states.  

In this ISO Minute, ISO employees reflect on how the power grid impacts their daily routines both on and off the job, and the vital role control room operators play.
