Exploring the causes and effects of demand growth: ISO-NE staff share expertise at March events

Collaboration, expertise, and innovation are three of ISO New England’s core values. Staff embody these values by presenting their work at electricity industry conferences and events around the region, the country, and the world. Here’s a selection of their March speaking engagements.

Marianne Perben, director, Planning Services, spoke March 5 at the Northeast Energy & Commerce Association Renewable Energy Conference in Waltham, Massachusetts. She discussed how the ISO performs proactive, cutting-edge analyses to keep stakeholders informed about the challenges and tradeoffs the region must consider during the clean energy transition.

Dan Schwarting, manager, Transmission Planning, discussed the ISO’s long-term transmission planning process at the Maine Chamber of Commerce Energy Summit in Augusta on March 19.

External Affairs

Kerry Schlichting addressed legislators at the state house in Providence, Rhode Island, on March 5.

Eric Johnson, executive director, External Affairs, and Kerry Schlichting, supervisor, State Policy, discussed the causes and effects of demand growth at a virtual workshop on March 6. The event was hosted by the Environmental Council of the States and the National Association of State Energy Officials.

Johnson and Melissa Winne, senior state policy advisor, provided a virtual overview of the ISO to the Maine Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology on March 12.

Schlichting provided an overview of the ISO to the Rhode Island Senate Environment and Agriculture Committee in Providence on March 5.

Johnson discussed battery energy storage systems at a meeting of the Boston City Council on March 25.
