Keeping state lawmakers informed: ISO-NE staff share expertise at January events

Collaboration, expertise, and innovation are three of ISO New England’s core values. Staff embody these values by presenting their work at electricity industry conferences and events around the region, the country, and the world. Here’s a selection of their January speaking engagements. 

Legislative briefings

Throughout the month, members of the External Affairs team traveled to state capitals around New England to update lawmakers on ISO-NE functions and initiatives.

On Jan. 30, Anne George, vice president, chief external affairs and communications officer, and Kerry Schlichting, lead state policy advisor, addressed Connecticut’s Joint Energy & Technology Committee.

On Jan. 23, Sarah Adams, senior state policy advisor, addressed Vermont’s House Committee on Energy and Digital Infrastructure, Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee, and Senate Transportation Committee.

On Jan. 14, Eric Johnson, executive director, External Affairs, and Nathan Raike, associate state policy advisor, addressed the New Hampshire House Science, Energy and Technology Committee.

Grid Operations

Mike Knowland, manager, Operations Forecast and Scheduling, discussed gas-electric coordination and the ISO’s Probabilistic Energy Adequacy Tool in a virtual presentation on Jan. 16. The occasion was a meeting of the Federal-State Current Issues Collaborative, a partnership between the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.

System Planning

Victoria Rojo, supervisor, Load Forecasting, discussed how the ISO has developed a new hourly approach to its long-term demand forecast at the IEEE PES Grid Edge Technologies Conference & Exposition in San Diego, California, on Jan. 22.

Bradley Marszalkowski, supervisor, Resource Integration, joined a panel discussion of inverter-based resource modeling at a North American Electric Reliability Corporation workshop Jan. 16 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Sarah Adams, senior state policy advisor, covered a wide range of ISO-NE topics at the Vermont System Planning Committee’s quarterly meeting Jan. 22 in Burlington.

Market Administration

Chris Geissler, director of Economic Analysis, joined a panel on capacity accreditation reform at the Northeast Energy & Commerce Association’s 2025 Power Markets Conference in Boston on Jan. 16.
