Registration open for ISO-NE course on wholesale energy markets

Participant Training Services is pleased to release New England’s Wholesale Energy Markets, a streamlined version of our former Introduction to Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM 101) course.

Covering essential topics needed to understand the region’s wholesale electricity markets, the course begins with an overview of energy markets, including market participants, structures, and how they work. It explores the Day-Ahead Energy Market, explaining the auction process and its outcomes. Unit commitment and dispatch processes, including commitment optimization and real-time dispatch are covered, as well as demand in New England markets, including demand response programs and market impacts.

The course explains Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) and its impact on electricity prices, forecast and scheduling techniques, and market interactions among participants. It also covers accounting practices, including financial settlements and billing processes.

By the end, participants will have a solid grasp of New England’s wholesale electricity markets, empowering them to effectively navigate this dynamic energy landscape.
