ISO-NE Society of Women Engineers members visit after-school STEM program

Several members of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at ISO New England shared a glimpse into the world of electricity with the students of the Springfield Changemakers program in late February. The after-school STEM program for middle and high schoolers is run by the Wellspring Cooperative, operators of the Wellspring Harvest hydroponic greenhouse in Springfield, Mass. Marianne Perben, Carissa Sedlacek and Cassandra Waterhouse, all members of the ISO’s system planning team, taught the students a bit about the power industry and the role of ISO New England. The ISO SWE members will continue working with the Changemakers program and visit the greenhouse this spring.

Marianne Perben, the ISO’s manager of technical studies, chats with students in the Springfield Changemakers program.
