Mass. Gov. Charlie Baker visits ISO-NE, tours control room

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker met with Philip Shapiro, ISO New England’s board chairman; Gordon van Welie, ISO New England president and CEO; and staff for about an hour on September 15, 2015, to learn about the ISO’s responsibilities. van Welie said the ISO was pleased to be able to showcase its state-of-the-art control room and the highly-trained system operators who keep the electricity flowing in the six-state region. ISO-NE Board Chair Philip Shapiro added that the ISO stands ready to provide its expertise to Massachusetts and the other New England states as they address complex regional energy challenges.
