ISO-NE seeks extension on release of capacity auction results, modifications to schedule for next year’s auction

ISO New England submitted two filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Tuesday regarding the Forward Capacity Market.

One filing is related to the 16th Forward Capacity Auction (FCA 16). It asks FERC to temporarily waive the requirements under which the ISO must publish information related to the Forward Capacity Auction no later than fifteen days after the auction. The ISO conducted FCA 16 on February 7, 2022; February 22 is the fifteenth day following the auction. The ISO submitted the request because of continuing, litigation-related uncertainty regarding the results of FCA 16.

The second is an “exigent circumstances” filing that requests revisions to the ISO’s tariff to allow the ISO to move dates, date ranges, and deadlines for the 17th Forward Capacity Auction, which will be held in 2023.
