ISO-NE requests extension on FERC Order No. 2222 compliance filing, launches key project page

ISO New England has requested from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) an extension of the compliance filing deadline for the commission’s Order 2222. The order requires that ISOs and RTOs allow distributed energy resources (DERs) to participate in the wholesale markets and to provide all services that they are technically capable of providing through an aggregation. (Update: FERC granted the ISO’s extension request on May 24, 2021.)

The ISO is asking the commission to set a deadline of February 2, 2022 for the compliance filing, which is currently due on July 19, 2021.

Since launching discussions on the order late last year, ISO New England has engaged in several formal stakeholder meetings on the topic, as well as numerous other discussions with state officials and other affected parties. These discussions have been productive, but have yielded a number of issues that would benefit from additional time.

For the convenience of those looking to follow the issue, the ISO has launched a key project page for Order 2222. The page will house information including committee materials, regulatory filings and orders, and other related materials.
