Registration is open for the 2019 Regional System Plan Public Meeting

The purpose of this public meeting is to present the final draft of, and receive feedback on, the 2019 Regional System Plan. The event will also include a keynote address and a panel discussion entitled Transition to the Grid of the Future: Adapting to Disruptive Technologies. The meeting runs from lunchtime until 4:00 p.m. and will be held at The Westin Copley Place, Boston, MA, on September 12, 2019. Register today!


ISO-NE issues power system plan for New England

ISO New England Inc. has issued its 2017 Regional System Plan (RSP17), the biennial report that provides the foundation for long-term power-system planning in New England. RSP17 was approved by the ISO New England board of directors on Nov. 2. The comprehensive report details power system needs for the next 10 years, through 2026, and how these needs can be addressed. Former administrator of US EPA Gina McCarthy to keynote RSP Public Meeting on September 14

ISO New England’s public forum on the draft 2017 Regional System Plan (RSP) will take place at the Seaport Boston Hotel on September 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Advanced registration is required; preliminary agenda is below.

The RSP forecasts New England’s electricity needs over the next 10 years and describes how the region’s power system can continue to meet those needs. The plan includes forecasts of demand, the development of resources needed to meet demand and replace retired resources, transmission upgrades needed for reliability, and strategic issues facing the region’s power grid. The ISO develops the plan through a collaborative process involving New England state regulators and policymakers, companies doing business in the wholesale electricity marketplace, consumer organizations, and other interested stakeholders. The final 2017 Regional System Plan will be issued later in the fall.

ISO-NE publishes annual regional system planning document

ISO New England’s 2015 Regional System Plan—a comprehensive report outlining the region’s progress to date in upgrading the power system to help ensure reliability and forecasts future needs and how they may be addressed—is available now on the ISO’s website. The fifteenth Regional System Plan issued by the ISO is the product of a year-long, collaborative process with industry representatives and other stakeholders to analyze power system needs and solutions for the 10-year planning period through 2024. The report also summarizes power system infrastructure development to date and underway, strategic issues facing the region, and ISO New England and regional initiatives.

RSP15 Public Forum featured keynote by Mass. Gov. Charlie Baker 

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and representatives from the electric industry met to discuss regional energy challenges at the 2015 Regional System Plan Public Meeting at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston on September 10, 2015. ISO New England holds the meeting annually to review the draft Regional System Plan, a comprehensive report on the status of the region’s power grid and trends for the next 10 years.
